Parkinson’s Disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder just after Alzheimer’s Disease, age related. There are between 7- 10 million people with PD. Every year there are around 6600 Canadians diagnosed with PD and about 100,000 Canadians living with the disease..

339 Parkinson’s patients attending Prague movement disorder center took a questionnaire about the improvement in their motor symptoms back in 2004.
Those who had used marijuana, 45.9% said they noticed improvement in their symptoms. About 30% of patients using cannabis said they noticed fewer tremors and 44.7% noticed an improvement in their slowness of movement. In one study in Tel Aviv university in Israel, 47 PD patients were observed. Over a period of a few months, 82% of the participants who used medical cannabis reported improvements in their systems such as tremor and stiffness.there was also an improvement in non-motor symptoms such as pain, mood, and sleep.
